News that the D.C. Opportunity Scholarship Program—America’s only federally-funded school voucher initiative—is making the grade has been covered extensively in the news media. Last Friday afternoon, the federal government released a monumental report demonstrating that students who receive vouchers outperform their public school peers in reading. Specifically, in order to achieve the same reading scores as voucher students, public school students would need 3.7 additional months of instruction.
